... the new Thermae place, the promenades and the famous Merano arcades offer charming cafetterias, gastronomics specialities in local bistros, icecream boutiques shops and much more… Social events and folkore, concerts, sessions, congresses, many festivals of music, lyric, gourmets and wine, International Art and Antiques Exhibition are performed in the Kurhaus, at the Theater, in the new house of Art and in other interesting places, for your entertainment - a great programm to follow with pleasure.

• Traditional Haflinger horseraces Period: 13.04.2009 Location: Race course of Merano Maia Via Palade Merano Tel: +39 0473 446222. On 13th April the traditional Hafling race takes place again at the Untermais Racecourse. This event, which always takes place on Easter Monday, is a must for all fans, and would-be fans, of horseracing, and marks the opening of the annual racing season at the Untermais Racecourse. In the morning you can watch the Hafling horses in procession through the town centre, accompanied by brass bands in local costumes, and many colourful floats.
• 16th Spring Half Marathon Period: 26.04.2009 Location: Merano - Lagundo Tel: +39 0473 232126. An international event along the 21,5 km blooming orchards between Merano and Lagundo.
• Südtirol Jazz Festival Period: 07.06.2009 - 12.06.2009 Location: Merano and surroundings Tel: +39 0471 940017. • 10th "Meraner Frauenlauf" - City running for women only Period: 13.06.2009 Location: Merano Tel: +39 0473 232126. The „Meraner Frauenlauf“ is a city-running for women only. Start an finish: Kurpromenade behind the Kurhaus. The route measrues 5 km.
• Südtirol Classic 2009 Period: 05.07.2009 - 12.07.2009 Location: Merano Surroundings Tel: +39 0473 945669. Oldtimer meeting. The routes 2009: These are the 6 routes of the Südtirol Classic 2009. During the pre-programme, you will be invited to travel with us through the enjoyable South Tyrol. Adventurous, romantic streets, nice food and drinks, meeting other people, discussions and to know the way of South Tyrolean living. The Rallye is composed of the evening prologue through the “Meraner Land”, the route through the enchanting world of the Dolomites and the tour of South Tyrol.

Blues, World Music, Jazz Music and the contemporary "cultured" music have contributed strongly to active cultural exchange among different music cultures. Meranojazz's objective is to observe these evolutions by means of talented musicians developing tradition by researching and experimenting new solutions.
• Exhibition Urs Lüthi Period: 10.07.2009 - 27.09.2009 Location: Merano Arte Via Portici 163 Merano Tel: +39 0473 212643. Urs Lüthi presents himself in his creative process both in photography and in dressing up and in one of his self-portrait in plaster as well. He reserches among the social mechanismus and analyses particular mass phenomena and changes that characterise the attitude in the free time and the organisation of the everyday-life.
• Merano Music Weeks Period: 20.08.2009 - 25.09.2009 Location: Kursaal, Pavillon de Fleurs, Theatre Puccini Merano/Meran Tel: +39 0473 212520. The Merano Music Weeks now rate among Europe's most important classical music festivals, inaugurated in 1996 to celebrate the spa town's 150th jubilee anniversary. Since then it has been an annual event taking place between the end of August to the end of September. The quality of the performances has made it a highly popular international attraction among lovers of classical music. Since its inception the festival has maintained its commitment to the highest artistic demands. Top orchestras and superb interpreters ensure the most memorable artistic highlights.
• Merano Grand Prix Steeplechase Period: 27.09.2009 Location: Maia Bassa/Untermais Race Course Via Palade Merano/Meran Tel: +39 0473 446222. The 5000 metre (25 furlong) steeplechase on the Merano flat race course at Maia Bassa/Untermais is a highlight of the horse racing season and is combined with the Italian national lottery. The annual Merano Grand Prix steeplechase has been captivating racing enthusiasts since 1935. There may be more famous racing events with higher prizes, but the each year Meran Forst steeplechase generates enormous enthusiasm and is especially dearly held among owners, trainers and jockeys.

The 18th international Brassfestival present also this year high quality music! Sunday 04th october 2009, 8.30 pm: Concert of the group "Blechschaden" (soloists of "Münchner Philharmoniker", Scottish conductor Bob Ross) Saturday 10th october 2009, 8.30 pm: Concert of the group "Fodens Band" (a world famous Brassband) Saturday 17th october 2009, 8.30 pm: Concert of the group Nordic Brass (soloists of the best Scandinavian orchestras)
• Meran Mais Oktoberfest (Merano) Period: 11.10.2009 Location: Race course of Merano Maia Via Palade Merano Tel: +39 0473 446222. A special "Haflinger" horserace in mid-October, local bands in traditional costumes and a big choice of local dishes.
• Merano Grape Festival Merano Period: 16.10.2009 - 18.10.2009 Location: Town center Merano Tel: +39 0473 272000. The famous Meran Grape Festival takes place each year on the third Sunday in October, to mark the end of the grape-harvesting. The highlight of the Festival is a colourful procession through the town, with many groups in local costumes, brass bands and beautifully decorated floats.
• Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria Period: 07.11.2009 - 09.11.2009 Location: Kurhaus (spa entertainment centre) Corso Libertà/Freiheitsstrasse 31 Merano/Meran Tel: +39 0473 210011. The Merano International Wine Festival takes place in the sumptuous halls of the art nouveau style Kurhaus. The annual event has become one of the most prestigious of its kind world-wide, providing an opportunity for wine enthusiasts to taste and discuss a wide selection of Europe’s finest wines directly with their producers. It is accompanied by a gastronomic festival titled “Culinaria”, where epicures can savour choice and authentic food products from Italy’s diverse regions.
• "Advent" and Christmas Fair - Christmasmarket Period: 18.11.2009 - 04.01.2010 Location: Promenade beside the Passer river Merano/Meran Tel: +39 0473 272000. The Meraner Advent: with its Christmas Market has the special Christmas atmosphere that you find only in the Alps. In front of the romantic spa buildings on the Passer Promenade, bright with festive decorations, you can visit stalls offering local crafts and traditional regional culinary specialities. There is also a varied supporting programme with music (including choirs), theatrical performances and displays of traditional customs. Children can enjoy a super animation programme – so that they are not too impatient waiting for Father Christmas.
