If you are looking for some shops for shopping in Merano in the heart of the city you will find the MeranoArches. These date back to the 13th century and their arcades are a powerful characteristic of the town. These arches with their boutiques, shops, cafés and restaurants leave a lasting impression on guests and Meraners alike. Between Pfarrplatz and Kornplatz, the 400m long Laubengasse is one of the most important shopping streets in the old town. Modernity meets tradition. Today the arches are occupied by a vibrant mix of traditional businesses and young designers. And you’ll also find sports shops, grocery stores, artisan’s workshops and international flagship stores for shopping in Merano.
As well as the many shops and eateries, Merano’s markets are also well worth visiting. There is a Friday market between Praderplatz and Meinhardstraße that sells groceries, local specialities and textiles.
Between mid-March and October there is another market heldevery Saturday from 9:00am – 1:00pm in the upper Freiheitsstraße. Here you will find South Tyrolean specialities, as well as natural and handmade products.
