The spa promenade: a lovely walk with its flower-beds, shady trees and exotic shrubs, the river promenade, a shady tree-lined walk along the right river bank, the winter promenade a delightful sunny walk leads to the ravine promenade with a splendid view of the ravine with its cascading falls and swirling water, the famous Tappeinerwalk, very popular 2 km long path under the hillside of Monte Benedetto with a wonderful panorama over the Burgraviato area. Let you inspire of the fascinating exotic, mediterranean vegetation, plants, trees, shrubs and flowerbeds.

Water Channel Pathways (Waalwege),: leisurely walks beside burbling water. The idyllic irrigation channels lined with footpaths wind among orchards, vineyards, green meadows and parts of forests with ever changing views of the Alps. To explore: The water channel pathways of Algund (6 km), of Kuens (2,5 km), of Marling (12 km) of Verdins (2 km), of Mais (9 km).

Popular excursion spots: the hill farms of Vellau, Leiteralm, the “Marlinger Höhenweg”, the “Ochsentodweg”, the “Meraner Höhenweg”, the Vigiljoch mountain, Hafling, Merano 2000, Vöran, Taser, Hirzer, Mut.

Farmstead to farmstead: the gentle highland invites to beautyful and easy walks, to visit the idyllic inns or huts and the traditional alpine farms at Vigiljoch, Vellau, Leiteralm, Steinegg, Muthöfe, Tiroler Kreuz, Labers, Fragsburg, Katzenstein ….

Between mountain peaks, alpine pastures and romantic lakes: The nearby Texelgroup nature park, the largest conservation area in South Tyrol has wonderful fauna and flora and gives a beautiful insight into the mountain world, it’s hikers' paradise. Easely reachable by many cable car and roads, you can explore a lot of walking trails and alpine hiking tours and also taste in many log huts delicious mountain delicacies and admire the magnific panorama views to Dolomites and the South Tyrol’s superb mountain landscape. Mountain refuges offer weary hikers accomodation and the unforgettable experience of a sunset in the high mountains. Walking in the great outdoors is one of the most natural ways of staying fit and healthy. To discover: The Meraner Höhenweg and the Spronser lakes.

Challenging hikes and climbs in high mountains: Mutspitze, Große Rötelspitze, Spronsertal mit Seenplatte, Tschigat, Lazinser Rötelspitze, Lodner, Hohe Weiße, Schwarzkopf, Zielspitze.

Outfit-equipment: for mountain tours in general: tour and hinking maps, mountaineering boots, rain gear, sun protection, gloves and cap, having a good head for heights and safe steps. for climbing: climbing harness, helmet, climbing set for Glacier tours: climbing harness, crampons, ice-axe or telescope sticks, karabiner

Reccomended walks and hiking trails:

Naiftal - Fragsburg – Katzenstein: trip description: Naiftal Bus stop – to the right over the Naifbach – to the right downhill to Labers Castle – left through orchards to Laberser Strasse – along this road uphill in the direction of Fragsberg – past the Oberödenhof to the Unterweihererhof – downhill as far as Freiberg Castle – detour to Fragsberg waterfall – further along the Laberser Strasse – after the 3rd bend left along a path leading downhill – Katzenstein Strasse – past Katzenstein Castle – main road – bus back to centre of Meran very beautyful in spring and autumn.

Excursion to the local mountain called the Vigil (1,500 – 1,800 metres) Trip description: cable car Lana to the Vigiljoch, walk to the Vigilius church - Gasthof Seehof – Seespitz on the blacklake, footpath nr. 10 nearby the lake, return on the footpath nr. 7 to the mountain station of the cable car. Very charming in early summer to autumn and easy to walk.

Excursion to The Ultental Valley - with its authentic alpine character, variety of traditions and its abundance of natural beauties. Trip desciption: footpath nr. 3 to St. Gertraud just before you reach the village centre of St. Gertraud you can admire a Südtirol’s finest natural monuments: 2000 year-old larch trees, the largest has a circumference of 28 metres, continue on way nr. 8 to St. Nikolaus and be pleasantly surprised.

Excursion to Merano 2000 – Mittager - hiking over the timberline trip despriction: with the Ifinger cable car to Meran 2000 – route Nr. 3 to Missensteinjoch – left uphill on route Nr. 13 – Kesselberg refuge – further on route Nr. 13 to the right via a steep slope – past the Kesselbergscharte – the saddle between the Grosser and Kleiner Mittager – left up the Grosser Mittager – back to route Nr. 13 – descent past the Mittager.…

Aschbach-Naturnser Alm-Vigiljoch-Aschbach - hiking to highlands pastures… Trip description: cable car to Aschbach – route Nr. 27 in direction Naturnser Alm – cross the woodland path several times - then woodland path to Naturnser Alm – route Nr. 30 in direction Vigiljoch – fork left – route Nr.9 as far as junction below St. Vigil chapel – before the junction turn left – woodland path in direction Aschbach – cable car Aschbach –. by car to Rabland, cable car to Aschbach, footpath nr. 27 and forest way to Naturnser Alm and continue footpath nr. 30 to Vigiljoch on the left side, footpath nr. 1 until the Vigilius church and return the forest way to Aschbach and the cable car.
