Asphalt Art

Why not take in the International Street Art Festival that takes place each year in the centre of Merano. Clowns, portrait painters, singers, jugglers, magicians, living statues and fire eaters are here in early summer with some truly impressive performances.

Trauttmannsdorff Garden Nights (Evening events in Summer)

From June to August the stunning botanical gardens of Merano, with its water lily ponds and lake backdrops, becomes a stage for the much in-demand open-air concerts. In the spirit of their motto "Plants from around the World" the gardens present concerts with music from several different continents. The open-air seating has become the most important World Music Festival in Italy and has welcomed many long-established musical greats to the stage amidst the water lilies in these famous gardens.

Grape Harvest Festival

The Merano grape festival at the end of the harvest period is the oldest harvest festival in South Tirol. Each year, on the third weekend in October, the streets and squares of Meran play host to this festival. The grape harvest festival is also always accompanied by a wide programme of events, making it one of the high points of the annual calendar of events in Merano. More info

Traditional Haflinger Races

Each year on Easter Monday the Haflinger races take place, opening the horse racing season at the Merano Hippodrome.

Merano Grand Prix

On the last Sunday in September the Merano Grand Prix is run at the Merano Hippodrome. Without a doubt the most important horse race in South Tirol, the Merano Grand Prix is well known throughout Europe.

Long Tuesdays in Merano (July till mid-August)

In the Summer months you can take advantage of Merano's long Tuesdays, when the shops and bars open late, with live music performances and lots of stands selling treats and drinks scattered about the old town.
