Empress Sissi, Tappeiner & irrigation channel trails

There’s no such thing as a holiday in Merano without an extensive stroll – a Sunday walk along the promenade, Tappeiner trail or irrigation channel trail is a popular pastime with the people of Merano.

And no wonder because the beautiful green footpaths with tropical plants are a feast for the senses!

From the Hotel Pienzenau in Obermais, walk directly via the peaceful Empress Elisabeth (Sissi) trail to the old town of Merano. Here it connects to the Tappeiner trail which takes you high above the town along a 5 km route to Gratsch. You can also access the Maiser irrigation trail directly from our hotel: walk towards the Brunnenplatz square, past the Planta Castle to Saltaus into the Passeiertal valley or to Schenna.
